Auch bekannt als "Alter Mann der Anden", ist diese säulenförmige und gedrungene Rebutie mit langsamem Wachstum von langen weißen Haaren bedeckt. Ursprünglich aus den Hochländern Argentiniens und Boliviens stammend, ist sie bis zu -12°C rustikal, vorausgesetzt der Boden ist gut durchlässig, oder sogar noch mehr in trockenem Boden. Ihre Blüte, die sich nach mehreren Jahren Kultur zeigt, präsentiert sich in Form von hängenden roten Blumen. Eine Art, die sich besonders gut für trockene Gärten eignet, insbesondere im mediterranen Raum. Sie lässt sich auch problemlos im Topf kultivieren.
